MIGRAINES

MIGRAINES

Migraines, tension headaches, and trauma-related headaches are the three major types of headaches that affect over 50 million people in the United States every year. 16% of attacks are due to migraines.

Men who suffer from migraines average 34 attacks per year.  Women sufferers average 37.5-58% of migraine attacks require bed rest, which totals 112 million migraine-related bed-ridden days per year in the U.S.  This costs employers an estimated $13 billion annually.

In addition, headache pain disrupts normal life by negatively affecting relationships, social life, and the ability to work.

Headache attacks are often triggered by muscle strain, stress, fatigue, specific foods, menstruation, depression, anxiety, poor posture, spinal misalignments and the overuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs (termed "rebound").

The range of symptoms goes beyond the throbbing pain and around the head and eyes, and includes feelings of nausea, extreme sensitivity to light and noise, dizziness, vomiting, and visual disturbances.

While many people use a variety of drugs to relieve the pains from headaches, they are unaware that drug therapy can actually worsen their condition as they induce a variety of side effects and dangerous interactions with other medications and supplements.  One of the most common triggers/cause for migraine or headache pain is called Subluxation.  See "In the News" for a full explanation of Subluxation.
